Introduction:
Central laboratories consist of three departments and offer wide range of laboratory tests in hematology, imunohematology, clinical biochemistry and microbiology. The quality controll system includes both internal and external quality assessment programs. We also provide outpatient care for patients with diseases of the blood and hematogenous organs. As a part of the section is also top blood transfusion facility providing transfusion and other services.

Department of Hematology and Blood Transfusion

The department is a modern consolidated facility providing laboratory services of clinical hematology and imunohematology as well as outpatient medical care for patients with hematological diseases.
Our team provides complete hematological, outpatient care, haematological examinations and treatments for the purposes of the entire hospital. It also provides laboratory tests for the military and security forces of the country.
The department is also blood transfusion establishment, ensures the supply of blood transfusion products within the entire hospital as well as foreign mission Army of Czech Republic . Besides, it is top blood transfusion facility providing transfusion and other services (e.g. medical training) for the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. Moreover, it is the Central Informational and Logistic Centre of the national blood crisis policy system and operates national bank of frozen blood.

Department of Clinical Biochemistry

The department offers continuous service to the Military University Hospital (24 hours every day of the year). The laboratory of clinical biochemistry provides a broad spectrum of routine and stat laboratory tests as well as consultation to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The department currently handles up to 700 samples per day. The analytical processes in the laboratory are based on internal and external quality assessment programs. There is also very close cooperation between laboratory and clinical staff in the field of POCT.

Department of Microbiology
E3 Location: building E, entrance E3
The department provides a clinical microbiology service (bacteriology, molecular diagnostic), including an infection control service. It also ensures microbiology support and advices to the clinicians of the Military University Hospital. The advices are given by the clinical microbiology team in relation to the clinical significance of isolates, antimicrobial therapy and management of sepsis. Specialists of the department also provide expert microbiological advices during outbreaks and other incidents of infectious diseases.
