Ultrasound
FAST/eFAST
FAST - Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma is a rapid ultrasound scan to detect free fluid in the abdominal, thoracic and pericardial cavity. It is an important initial examination for a traumatized patient during admission to the emergency room. eFAST - Extended FAST for pleural examination with a linear probe to exclude pneumothorax.

POCUS CA
Point Of Care UltraSound in Cardiac Arrest - is an ultrasound examination of the heart/lungs during cardiac arrest which allows evaluate the quality of the chest compressions, the quick diagnosis of reversible causes of arrest with non-defibrillable rhythms (pulseless electrical aktivity and asystoly) such as cardiac tamponade, pulmonary embolism, tension pneumothorax and severe hypovolemia, the monitoring interventions, and its response to treatment.

Ultrasound of cervical region of respiratory airways
Ultrasound examination of the respiratory airway in the cervical region used by intensivists to evaluate the anatomical findings before the planned tracheostomy (especially the presence of vascular bundles below the site of the intended puncture and the presence of thyroid isthmus). The feasibility of the percutaneous dilatation technique is assessed which increases the safety of the procedure. Ultrasound can also be used for direct navigation of the puncture itself to optimize the cannula insertion site, i.e. level/height and centering in the trachea.
